Biogas and related technologies are opening a new era for agriculture, where farmers can grow fuel (energy) as well as food.

As a result, farmers will be able to:

• stabilize farm income
• produce renewable energy in the form of heat, electricity, and fuel alcohol
• develop unrealized agricultural resources
• help foster rural development
• provide cornerstone contributions to creating sustainable communities

North Middlesex Digester to be first one to use TRENT methodology

A digester located in North Middlesex, Ontario, Canada, which has been 'in the works' since December 2002 and is looking forward to commissioning this spring, will be first to use methodologies developed at TRENT University to establish just how many and what emissions are mitigated by the digester technology used.

Background information on the project, which holds the promise to become Canada's first integrated agri-energy facility producing electricity, protein feed, fuel and livestock is posted in our library.
