Projects that received financial assistance from the Technology
Development and Innovation Program under the Climate Change Action Plan
2000
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) recieved funding of $974,000
from the Technology Development and Innovation Program under the
Climate Change Action Plan 2000 to initiate a National Program for
Energy Co-generation from Agricultural and Municipal Wastes.
The main objective of this program is to establish model demontration
pilot plants over a four-year (2002-2006) period for energy
co-generation and crop nutrien production from agricultural and
municipal wastes in order to mitigate net greenhouse gas emissions from
agriculture while improving production efficiency and resource
conservation. This program is to be delivered by collaboration between
government and industry organizations. It is being managed by a project
authority at AAFC under the guidance and advice of a Steering Commitee
consisting of eleven individuals with wide-ranging related scientific,
technical and indusrial expertise and background. Click here to view project summaries
